Meta Horizon Worlds – the first game in Zuckerberg’s Metaverse

the first game in Zuckerberg's Metaverse

Meta, led by Mark Zuckerberg, has launched its metaverse, Horizon Worlds,  on mobile and online platforms. The first game is Super Rumble, a free-for-all shooter. Meta aims to broaden accessibility by offering multiple ways to enter the metaverse. The company is also introducing virtual legs to avatars, responding to criticism of the lack of virtual legs in Zuckerberg’s metaverse. The move aims to create a more engaging and inclusive metaverse.

  • The Meta’s Horizon Worlds game will be made available in early access online and on mobile devices.
  • The first game available is Super Rumble, a free-for-all shooter that supports up to six players in intense five-minute battles.
  • Avatars have been given legs, just as Meta stated during Connect 2022 that legs will be included in the next update, probably in 2023.

In addition to virtual reality headsets, Meta, a startup led by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, has extended its Metaverse Horizon Worlds to mobile and internet platforms. This 3D avatar-based social network has made its first Meta Horizon Worlds available for PC and mobile in early access. The first game available is Super Rumble, a free-for-all shooter that supports up to six players in intense five-minute battles. In the coming months, Meta intends to deliver more experiences and worlds.

Several people have been given early access to the Meta Quest app for Android and Horizon Worlds on the web. A version for iOS is expected to launch in the coming weeks. Meta aims to expand accessibility by gathering feedback and gradually improving the experience. The company wants to create multiple entry points into the metaverse so that everyone can access it, regardless of the device they are using. Although Meta has not disclosed the total number of its monthly active users, The Wall Street Journal reported in October 2022 that the number was less than 200,000. Several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Iceland, Canada, France, Ireland and Spain, offer access to the social network Meta.

It is worth noting that metaverse-based blockchain platforms, such as Decentraland and The Sandbox, were initially an extension of the virtual worlds of gaming, and the internet. In February 2020. Decentraland unveiled its browser-based 3D virtual environment, and in November 2021. The Sandbox launched its alpha version on PC. The official virtual reality version has not yet been released on any of these platforms.

Meta presents Horizon World avatars with virtual legs

Another improvement is the addition of virtual legs to avatars in Meta Horizon Worlds, a long-awaited feature. This update was introduced in response to criticism directed at Zuckerberg for the lack of virtual legs in his avatars in the metaverse. Meta announced during Connect 2022 that legs will be included in the next update, probably in 2023. Users now report seeing legs in the Horizon Worlds app, a feature that was first tested in the Quest Home space with the version v57 update.

The launch of Horizon Worlds by Meta on web and mobile platforms represents a significant step towards making the metaverse more accessible to more people. Meta aims to enable people to access the metaverse on a variety of devices as new experiences and worlds are added. The company’s decision to make accessibility a top priority is in line with its goal of creating a metaverse that is more engaging and inclusive.
