The Konni APT group allegedly exploited the vulnerability, known as CVE-2023-38831, using an HTML file in compressed files to execute a malicious payload. When the victim clicks the file, the malware is unleashed and can potentially steal valuable cryptocurrency. Cybersecurity experts advise caution when downloading and opening any compressed files, especially from unknown sources. This incident highlights the increasing use of cryptocurrency by nefarious individuals and groups due to its difficulty to trace.
