AOMINEXT, a Japanese developer of VR and metaverse, is planning to establish a fully virtual high school in Japan that will allow students to complete high school in the metaverse and receive a real diploma.

Since its inception, the Metaverse has yet to find many practical applications in the real world. So far, the development of this promised digital world has shown that many of the proposed applications have met with little enthusiasm.

Japanese VR and metaverse developer AOMINEXT recently unveiled plans to develop a metaverse system for a fully virtual high school in Japan, showing that it continues to believe in the potential of virtual reality. According to Automaton, citing a PR Times press release, the project will allow students to earn a high school diploma and participate virtually by creating personalised 3D avatars.

This means you can dress up like your favourite anime character and attend class. AOMINEXT has announced that Yushi International High School is a partner in this initiative. The three-year programme, which has been approved by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, will include a comprehensive curriculum. Students who complete their education virtually will receive the same diplomas as Japanese high school graduates who attend traditional classes.

According to the school’s official website, students will be able to present themselves in the virtual classroom without external restrictions. This means that students do not have to worry about their gender, appearance or other aspects. Students enrolled at Metaverse High School receive free virtual reality equipment and can attend classes from anywhere, both in Japan and abroad.
