Meta has owned the trademark for ‘X’ since 2019 and Microsoft owns it since 2020.
Changing Twitter’s new logo to ‘X’ might bring trouble for the company and Elon Musk, as records state Meta trademarked it years ago. Although this log change created a buzz around the internet community, a legal battle could be hiding near the horizon as Facebook’s parent company per the registered trademarked the logo in 2019.
So it appears that Facebook/Meta owns the trademark for “X” for use in social networking while Microsoft owns the trademark for “X” for use in finance/e-commerce.

According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office records, Meta applied for the trademark on May 25, 2017, and it was officially grant
