Austin, the state capital of Texas, is actively exploring ways to accept Bitcoin and blockchain technology. Last week, Austin City Council Member Mackenzie Kelly put forward a resolution to examine how the city could utilize the technology.
The resolution was introduced alongside Austin Mayor Steve Adler during a press conference in which Council Member Kelly spoke of ways the city could benefit from adopting the technology. This included financial benefits and the provision of city services, such as paying property taxes and city worker wages.
The resolution is set for a vote on March 24 and has the backing of Mayor Adler.
