Artifact Labs is a new firm spun SCMP NFT operations

In its last auction, the newspaper raised $127,000 by selling NFTs of its historical front pages The media industry is continually looking for new revenue streams aside from selling ads against print copy. Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post appears to have found one in selling Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs) of its front pages from historical events, and has such confidence in the business that its spinning it off into its own division called Artifact Labs.SCMP’s NFTs cover historic events such as Hong Kong’s handover to China in 1997, the Avian Flu outbreak, the Asian Financial Crisis, and Princess Diana’s death. Its NFT collection is built on Flow, a blockchain developed by Dapper Labs that powers NBA’s Top Shot collection as well. NFTs from historically significant events can be sold individually or as part of a box of front pages from various events.
